Meta Crypto Scam Ads Lawsuit Investigation

Were You Targeted by a Crypto Scam Advertisement on Facebook, Instagram, or WhatsApp?

Even if You’ve Been Told Your Money is Gone, You May Have Remedies.

Users have described clicking on a Facebook investment ad and then being given a WhatsApp contact.

From there, scammers direct users to set up an account on a trading platform that is nothing more than a front for a pig butchering scam.

When victims attempt to withdraw or transfer their crypto, the scammers first provide a litany of excuses and demand more crypto (for things like local taxes and fees). Even if that additional crypto is provided, the scammers eventually disappear.

Berg PC is investigating claims on behalf of victims who lost cryptocurrency after clicking fraudulent ads on Meta’s platforms. These ads appeared to be legitimate exchanges, wallets, and investment firms, luring victims into sophisticated crypto-theft schemes.

If the scam that resulted in the loss of your crypto started with a Facebook or Instagram ad, you’ve probably been told your money is gone and cannot be recovered. We are investigating – that may not be the case.

Meta Faces Growing Scrutiny for Allowing Crypto Scam Ads

Internal Documents Suggest Meta Profited Massively from Fraudulent Crypto Advertisements

On November 6, 2025, Reuters published internal Meta documents indicating that:

  • Meta projected up to 10% of its 2024 revenue would come from scam ads.
  • Meta estimated its platforms show users 15 billion scam ads per day.
  • Internal teams tracked “rogue” advertisers, charged them premium rates, and continued to run their ads.
  • Countless victims—many in crypto schemes—lost tens or hundreds of millions of dollars.

Example of Meta’s Fraudulent Crypto Advertisements

According to the Reuters report,

Other Meta safety staffers also documented instances in which the company’s rules on scams didn’t appear to cover obviously bad behavior. In April, staffers noted that they’d discovered $250,000 in scam crypto ads from an account claiming to belong to Canada’s prime minister.

Example of Crypto Recovery Meta Scam Ad

When you sign up for Facebook, Instagram, or WhatsApp, you enter a contract with Meta. Meta promises to fight misuse of its platforms. In Meta’s user agreement, the organization promises:

If we learn of content or conduct like this, we may take appropriate action based on our assessment that may include – notifying you, offering help, removing content, removing or restricting access to certain features, disabling an account, or contacting law enforcement.

But if these reports are accurate, Meta may not only have failed to act—it may have profited from the fraud. Even if the overseas scammers are beyond the reach of American law, Meta is not.

Do You Have a Case Against Meta?

You may have a valid claim against Meta if:

  • You clicked an investment-related ad on Facebook, Instagram, or WhatsApp
  • The ad led you to “invest” cryptocurrency
  • Your “investment” resulted in the loss of digital assets

We are making strides with each case, and you can help us continue the fight against cryptocurrency scams and fraudulent schemes by making your voice heard.

If you or someone you know was targeted by a crypto scam advertisement on Facebook, Instagram, or WhatsApp that resulted in the loss of your crypto, you may have remedies.

Even if you’ve been told your money is gone, please provide details about yourself and your case.

We are here to help, and the first step is to perform a preliminary evaluation. After reviewing your case, we’ll be in touch with the next steps.

Why Berg PC Is Leading the Charge

Nationally Recognized Crypto Litigation & Crypto Fraud Recovery Firm

Berg PC is based in Houston but practices nationally.

In cryptocurrency-related matters, the firm has been associated with, co-counseled, or otherwise involved in matters in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, Denver, Dallas, Austin, Chicago, New York, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., Boston, and Miami.

Our lawyers are licensed in Texas, Colorado*, and Pennsylvania*.

Berg PC is one of the only law firms in the United States to merge: High-stakes commercial trial experience and blockchain tracing and crypto recovery capabilities.

In 2024, “stolen funds increased by approximately 21% YoY to $2.2 billion,” according to a 2025 Chainalysis report. Crypto recovery isn’t a side hustle here. We didn’t take a flier on this field when crypto was hot and hope it panned out. It has become a core part of our litigation practice because the need is real—and urgent.

We Pursue Crypto Recovery in Court

Geoff Berg, a nationally recognized trial lawyer with 30 years of experience, is countering the crimes of crypto scammers in Court.

Our team includes high-profile trial lawyers like Geoff and world-renowned financial crime investigators with decades of experience in the private sector and from their time at places like the United States Marine Corps, the National Security Agency, and other government organizations. The firm and its investigators have the following capabilities:

  • Tracing Stolen Cryptocurrency Assets on the Blockchain
  • Locating Criminal Wallet Addresses
  • Identifying Cryptocurrency Scammers
  • Collaborating with Exchange Platforms & VASPs
  • Freezing Criminal Wallets Through Court Proceedings

Tracing and freezing stolen crypto assets make recovering your money possible, allowing our firm to make unprecedented advancements in the fight against crypto scams and fraud.

Represented Hundreds of Victims

We’ve represented hundreds of victims of cryptocurrency fraud and scams. We’ve secured judgments in both state and federal courts. And we’ve built a formidable network of forensic investigators, crypto tracing experts, and former intelligence operatives who help us follow the money—even when it’s hidden behind layers of blockchain obfuscation.

No Up-Front Costs

Our cases are handled on a contingency basis. We are paid with a portion of any recovery. We do not ask for fees up front. If there is NO RECOVERY, the is NO FEE. If you are a victim of Meta ad scams, it is imperative that you protect yourself from cryptocurrency recovery schemes.

Whoever you hire, always confirm with their state bar or licensing agency that they are real, and their contact information matches what you see on their website. Scammers frequently change small details in domain names to impersonate legitimate ones.

Understands Cryptocurrency & Can Explain It to a Judge

Most judges and juries have little to no understanding of crypto. Our lawyers can:

  • Explain blockchain clearly
  • Present technical evidence in understandable terms
  • Establish how normal people fall prey to deceptive ads
  • Show why Meta should be held responsible
  • Build credibility before the court
  • Advocate aggressively at trial if necessary

Berg PC’s team combines deep crypto fluency with decades of commercial trial success.

Why Law Enforcement Alone Cannot Keep Up

Crypto scams have become a global epidemic. A 2024 University of Texas study estimated $75 billion in losses—now likely much higher. Law enforcement agencies are understaffed, overwhelmed by the volume of cases, and constrained by limited cross-border authority.

Private action through firms like Berg PC is now the most effective path to freeze stolen crypto, file court actions, trace scam networks, and pursue compensation from negligent platforms.

Why Victims of Meta Ad Scams Should Contact Us Immediately

If you clicked on a Meta scam ad and “invested” crypto at the direction of an advertiser, we want to hear from you. Our investigation aims to help victims file lawsuits against Meta to recover what they’ve lost.

By the time many victims contact us, they’ve been told (by private investigators, crypto experts, law enforcement, or other lawyers) what they lost cannot be recovered.

That may be true – but there may be a chance it isn’t.

You may still have a claim even if:

  • Law enforcement has told you your crypto is “gone forever”
  • You were scammed months or years ago
  • You live outside the United States
  • You don’t have complete records

Victims worldwide are encouraged to contact our firm. The earlier you speak with us, the easier it is to preserve evidence and evaluate your rights. Tell us what happened so we can evaluate whether you may be eligible to sue to get back what you lost.
