A pig butchering scam is a form of financial fraud in which the scammer develops a close relationship with the victim before defrauding them. The name translates from the Chinese term sha zhu pan (“pig butchering”): the victim is “fattened” with fake profits before being “butchered” and having everything taken. The language is deliberately dehumanizing, and the operations behind it are sophisticated and well-funded.

How We Pursue Recovery

Our approach is three-pronged: trace, freeze, and recover. We work with a network of former military and U.S. intelligence officials with careers in financial investigation to identify the wallets where your funds went and document the chain of transactions.

Once we’ve traced the funds, we pursue court orders to freeze the identified wallets and compel exchanges and virtual asset service providers (VASPs) to cooperate.
